CAROL DANDRIDGE CHARLES - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
CAROL DANDRIDGE CHARLES, Executive Director, is a passionate arts advocate, educator and administrator. She holds a Masters in Arts Administration from New York University and a Bachelor’s degree in Drama from Syracuse University and a diploma from the famed Fiorello LaGuardia H.S. of Music and Art, in New York, N.Y. She began her Arts Administration career in the Development & Marketing Departments of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Dance Theatre of Harlem. She also served as the Assistant Director of Communications for the City of Syracuse during Mayor Tom Young’s administration and served as the director of the Community Folk Art Center for nearly ten years. Charles has worked to promote excellence in education through her work as a member of the Jamesville Dewitt Board of Education and as a dance instructor at the Metropolitan School of the Arts, Onondaga Dance Institute and Dance Theater of Syracuse; and service on the Onondaga County Youth Bureau. Her dance training and proud dance lineage began. at the age of five at the “Little Theater Dance School” in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was developed at The Dance Theater of Harlem where she studied Ballet and at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater where she studied, Dunham, Horton and Jazz. Carol Charles is a member of Bethany Baptist Church, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and is an Associate member of the Syracuse Chapter of Jack & Jill.
